MELT is an innovative artistic project integrated into professional education. Designed for students of the Sociocultural Animator program at Escola dos Arrifes (EPROSEC), it introduces the pioneering Transmalhar Methodology for the first time.Developed by Anda&Fala, this methodology emerged from a transdisciplinary co-creation process (combining Architecture, Dance, and Psychology) alongside young residents of São Miguel Island. Through participatory artistic practices and collective walks, the project explores our connection to the territory and its communities.
Project Goals
Inclusion: Creating safe, accessible, and horizontal environments.
Citizenship: Fostering shared responsibility for socio-political and natural ecosystems.
Cultural Democracy: Bringing artistic, community-driven, and participatory approaches into the school system.
Empowerment: Providing cultural and artistic mediation tools for future Sociocultural Animators.
How It Works?
The project is structured into seven modules across the students' academic path:
Modules 1 to 6 (1st Year)
Co-creation Residency (2 days): Artists and a local NGO collaborate to create a micro artistic product based on the participants' lived experiences.
MELT Day (1 day): Students experience the artistic presentation. They then engage in physical and creative exercises designed to use art to "melt" prejudices and transform perspectives.
Module 7 (2nd Year)
Role Reversal (5-day Residency + 1-day Event): Students become the creators alongside the artistic and mediation team.
Giving Back: The final piece is presented at a public event open to the community and the partner NGOs, closing the loop with a gesture of care and reciprocity.
